Artist Statement by Bonny Macnab

I acknowledge my waking breath as the first rays of light dance upon the earth. I am intrigued by the speed of color changing and still in awe of the mystery in what is left unsaid in the darkness. I am in the story this mystery has to offer me in the blessedness of this day.
Everywhere I see beauty and emotion in the untold story of my subject. This is my invitation to add interest to the “normal” with shape, color and brush stroke, this intrigues me. Seeing is easy, the challenge is to present emotion and atmosphere in my work. This brings me pure joy. As I give gratitude with my evening breath I feel pleasantly peaceful that I have tapped into all the creative energy given this day. This is why I paint.
